Genealogical chart of the kings of the
18th dynasty until Amenhotep III
(NEW)
The family relations of the kings
of the early 18th dynasty are exceedingly complex. Brothers and sisters,
or half-brothers and -sisters, regularly married. Names resemble one
another closely, and at least one name could be used for both men and
women (Ahmose).
Characteristic for this period is the importance of a group of queens:
the so-called Great Royal Wives. Most of these also held the title God's
Wife of Amun. In this chart, those who held these titles are marked
separately.
To show the roots of the first king of this dynasty (king Ahmose), the
last two generations of the preceding 17th dynasty are also included (in
PDF-format).
